Vivacity & Peterborough Presents – Hampton Festival 2017
O&H Hampton is supporting the upcoming Hampton Festival taking place on Saturday 16 September.
Twenty years ago, O&H Hampton began the Hampton development with the first residents arriving in December 1997.
The Hampton Festival coincides with the 20th anniversary and O&H welcomes the event being organised by Vivacity and Peterborough Presents. We hope all Hampton residents will join together in true Hampton community spirit to ensure it is a huge success.
The Hampton Festival will take place at Silver Hill Green. It will be a feast of local and national talent spanning music, street theatre, dance and interactive arts and crafts. Highlights include the unveiling of Hampton’s very own folktale, a performance from A-Flame – the stars of BBC show Pitch Battle – and a thunderous spectacle from Raijin Storm.
It all kicks off at 2pm with a procession led by theatre company Eastern Angles and their show ‘Folk Tales for Hampton’, which begins at the Tump and leads up to Silver Hill (the field by the walkway between Serpentine Green and Silver Hill) where the other activities will take place.
The Great Hampton Bake Off
For budding bakers, CSK Church is hosting the ‘Great Hampton Bake Off’. To enter, residents can make an edible replica of their house or a Hampton landmark. All entrants will go on the community map on the O&H Hampton website and the winner will get a prize donated by Serpentine Green. More information about the competition is available on the Hampton Gazette Facebook page.
A mighty banquet
The festivities round off with a ‘bring your own’ banquet. Starting at 7pm, residents are invited to bring food along and share their culinary delights with all attending. There will be free party bags and birthday themed entertainment to celebrate the Hamptons’ 20th birthday so party wear is welcomed! This is a chance for 120 Hampton residents to eat together and share their favourite memories of living at the Hamptons. Seats at the main table are on a first come, first served basis. Tickets are free and available via the Hampton Festival Eventbrite page where further information is also available.
There will be a giant LED screen to share your photo memories of the first 20 years of life at the Hamptons. If you have a photo of when you first moved in, pictures of the landscape over the last 20 years, or any fun pictures you’ve taken at the Hamptons, please send them with the date and description to email@example.com by 10 September.
If you’d like to volunteer some of your time to help, please contact Hampton Festival organiser Charley Genever at Genever.firstname.lastname@example.org.
This will be a great occasion to truly appreciate what has been achieved at the Hamptons and remember, if you are a Hampton Pioneer and would like to share your story or pictures, send them to email@example.com and we’ll upload them to the website www.ohhampton.co.uk
